The XXXV Ibercaja Quebrantahuesos by TotalEnergies Cyclosportive Officially Presented in Huesca

The Ibercaja Quebrantahuesos by TotalEnergies Cyclosportive officially presented its 35th edition this Tuesday in Huesca. The event was attended by authorities, including María Nogueras, Director General of Tourism and Hospitality of the Government of Aragón, representatives from the organising company Esedos Events, and sponsors.

The Quebrantahuesos will once again bring together 11,500 participants across its two routes: 9,000 riders in the Quebrantahuesos and 2,500 in the Treparriscos. This new edition of the world’s most renowned cyclosportive event will pay tribute to Ángel Vicioso, the legendary Aragón-born cyclist who competed in several Grand Tours and claimed a stage victory at the Giro d’Italia.

The rider from Alhama de Aragón has a long-standing connection with the roads of Sabiñánigo, having achieved victories both as an amateur in the Memorial Luis Muñoz and as a professional in the Clásica de Sabiñánigo.

Created by Club Ciclista Edelweiss, the event has been organised by Esedos Events since 2012. Since then, continuous efforts have been made to improve every aspect of the event. Safety measures have been strengthened year after year and, for this edition, the challenge has been even greater. Through the joint work of authorities, institutions and security forces, additional measures have been implemented to ensure the highest standards of safety and provide participants with the best possible experience.

As every year, more than 1,000 volunteers—many of whom have been involved in multiple editions—will play a key role in the successful delivery of the event. Their work will be essential in aid stations, route management, road signalling and participant assistance.

Xavier Bartrolí, President of Esedos Events

“This year’s edition has presented us with several challenges. Due to external circumstances, the motorway works remain unfinished and we have had to make the decision to end the timed section earlier than in previous editions. Nevertheless, we are convinced that this will be another successful edition and that the event will proceed without major disruptions. This year we are also inaugurating a record-sized exhibition area that will help increase the prestige and reach of our event. We are confident that this will be a great edition of the Ibercaja Quebrantahuesos by TotalEnergies because it is the finest cyclosportive event in Europe.”

Quique Ascaso, Vice President of Club Ciclista Edelweiss

“This year’s main novelty is the modification of the start and finish areas, a decision made with participant safety as the top priority. It is also important to highlight the involvement of more than 1,000 volunteers who make the Ibercaja Quebrantahuesos by TotalEnergies possible year after year. And of course, it is a pleasure to have a rider of Ángel Vicioso’s stature as this year’s honoured cyclist. Not only is he from Aragón, but he also knows Sabiñánigo and its mountain passes exceptionally well.

The scale of the event is such that we always strive to ensure it has the most positive impact possible on local residents, allowing them to enjoy how their home becomes, for a few hours, the centre of the amateur cycling world.”
