The 35th Ibercaja Quebrantahuesos by TotalEnergies Once Again Turns Sabiñánigo into the European Capital of Cyclosportive Cycling

The 35th edition of the Ibercaja Quebrantahuesos by TotalEnergies Cyclosportive once again brought together 11,500 participants from more than 30 countries to take part in Europe’s largest cyclosportive event. Renowned cycling figures such as Ángel Vicioso (former Aragón professional cyclist and this year’s honoured rider), Samuel Sánchez, Luis León Sánchez, Alejandro Valverde and Haimar Zubeldia joined thousands of cycling enthusiasts on the roads of the Pyrenees.

This year’s event featured several organisational changes. Ongoing road infrastructure works required adaptations to the event logistics, including modifications to the start and finish areas, the introduction of a time control point before the finish line, and adjustments to certain operational aspects of the route. For the Treparriscos route, the main novelty was that it was ridden in the opposite direction compared to previous editions.

At 7:15 a.m., the Quebrantahuesos officially got underway, with 9,500 cyclists taking on the demanding 200-kilometre route. Thirty minutes later, at 7:45 a.m., a further 2,500 participants started the 85-kilometre Treparriscos route. After almost five and a half hours of racing, the first two male riders crossed the finish line together, choosing not to sprint for victory and coming remarkably close to breaking the event’s all-time record. One hour later, the fastest female rider crossed the finish line with a final time of six and a half hours.

Beyond the sporting challenge, the Quebrantahuesos once again demonstrated its significant social, economic and tourism impact. Over the course of two days, Sabiñánigo and the surrounding area welcomed more than 40,000 visitors, generating high hotel occupancy rates and considerable activity across the hospitality, retail and service sectors.

An event of this scale would not be possible without the commitment of more than 1,000 volunteers, as well as the support of public institutions, security forces, medical services and partner organisations, all of whom worked together to ensure the smooth running of the event.

After more than three decades of history, the Ibercaja Quebrantahuesos by TotalEnergies continues to grow while remaining true to its essence. Once again, Sabiñánigo became the capital of cyclosportive cycling, and the Pyrenees provided the perfect backdrop for an edition that will remain in the memories of all those who took part.
